When it comes to hybrid bikes, some deliver exceptional performance on and off the road. And the Diamondback Bicycles Trace St Dual Sport Hybrid Bike is one of them. It is a great companion for getting your daily dose of endorphins. But it is just as great if you plan a weekend tour with your buddies.

Compared to a basic bike, this hybrid has a premium price tag. However, when you pit it against the other bikes in its category, it is quite reasonable, which is one of the reasons I loved this bike.

This review of the Diamondback Bicycles Trace St Dual Sport Hybrid Bike takes a look at all the features that make it a great bike.

Diamondback Bicycles Trace St Dual Sport Hybrid Bike Review

If I were to describe this bike in a couple of words, it would be a great all-terrain bike. Equipped with variable speeds and sturdy wheels, this is one bike that will take you through different types of roads with ease.

Without any further ado, let’s dig deeper into the features.

Frame

The frame of the Diamondback Bicycles Trace St Dual Sport Hybrid Bike is among the best features of this bike. Featuring a 6061-T6 aluminum alloy, it renders the bike as robust as they come.

You will have no trouble taking this bike for a spin from the smooth city-streets to dirt roads. The straight-blade steel fork also adds structural integrity to the bike.

A fantastic feature of the steel forks which I loved is that it absorbs shocks. I was able to ride through potholes and uneven roads with ease. Unless you are 500 pounds, you should find this bike very comfortable to ride.

Gears

The Diamondback Bicycles Trace St Dual Sport Hybrid Bike also has an exceptional gear, which is among my favorite. With up to 21 combinations, you can drive on flat roads with as much ease down a hill.

It shifts very smoothly, thanks to the Shimano Revo grip shifter as well as the derailleur. Although I would not recommend this bike for a newbie, the grip shifter is one thoughtful feature that inspires confidence even if you are not an expert.

Brakes

One of the stellar features about this hybrid bike is the alloy linear-pull brakes with adjustable-reach levers. This makes the brakes smooth and powerful at the same time. You can fly down a terrain or a hillock with this bike and rely on it to take good care of you.

You also get the option to personalize and upgrade your bike to make it unique. This bike has a disc brake mount so you can upgrade it without any problem.

Wheels and tires

This is one feature that got me pretty excited about the bike. It features a dual 700C sport tires. But that is not all that the wheels and tires have to offer. The wheels are 27.5 inches and are double-walled.

This combination makes the bike very tough with traction that you will find in few hybrid bikes. It is also one of the components that make this bike an excellent choice for riding in multiple terrains.

Saddle

At a casual glance, the seat of this Diamondback bike is quite narrow. But its performance took me by surprise, quite pleasantly. Allow me to explain.

It is about 27 inches in width, which is not the most massive seat on a bike. But it absorbs vibrations like a champ, and I loved it. The seat of the Trace St Dual Sport Hybrid Bike’s seat is also adjustable, which makes it more fun.

Design and Aesthetics

Another of my favorite features about this hybrid bike is the smart and no-nonsense design. Unlike some bikes that come with colorful colors and aesthetics, which can make it look very childish, this one made me feel very grown-up while riding it.

Apart from the dark-colored aluminum frame and the grips and seats, the brand’s logo takes a focal point as well. The pedals are made of alloy, which makes it seamless to ride. Besides, it blends in very cohesively with the overall aesthetics of the bike.

Pros & Cons

Now, let’s get on with the good and bad about the Diamondback Bicycles Trace St Dual Sport Hybrid Bike.

Pros

  • This hybrid bike has sturdy aluminum construction, which makes it strong and durable.
  • With 21 combinations, the gears have an excellent range and an outstanding performance overall.
  • The Diamondback Bicycles Trace St Dual Sport Hybrid Bike is one of the most convenient hybrid bikes to assemble. It is partly since it comes pre-assembled on delivery.
  • The inclusion of the V-brakes makes shifting and riding very precise and effortless.
  • The seats and the grips are equipped with shock-absorbing components, which make this bike ideal for smooth rides even in the roughest roads.
  • Sturdy and reliable wheels will take you through flat roads as well as off the road.

Cons

  • The V-brakes are powerful. However, they are not the best for wet roads, which requires more pressure and precision.
  • This hybrid bike clocks in at nearly 42 lbs, this bike is by no means lightweight. The heavyweight makes it slightly more challenging to ride uphill.

Conclusion

The Diamondback Bicycles Trace St Dual Sport Hybrid Bike is a great entry-level bike for multiple terrains. The construction on this one is solid, which makes it a sturdy bike. The inclusion of 21 gears, the Shimano grip shifter, and the shock-absorbing seats makes this bike very effortless to ride.

Other features that make it a total winner are seamless acceleration by the pedals and, of course, the V-brakes. These combine to make the Diamondback Bicycles Trace St Dual Sport Hybrid Bike an excellent option for city roads as well as rough roads.

You might want to know that the chain of this bike is not high-quality. But considering its other stellar features, this hybrid bike from Diamondback is an excellent choice and worth every cent, in my opinion.
