Diamondback Bicycles Trace St Dual Sport Hybrid Bike Review

Amongst the few bicycle manufacturers in the world that make exceptionally good hybrid bicycles, Diamondback is a top contender. With a motive to encourage more people to move from place to place without the need for fossil fuels, the company does not compromise on the style, comfort, and performance.

The Diamondback Trace St Dual Sport Hybrid bike is what you need to check out if you want an enhanced riding experience.

A good friend of mine asked me to test this bike, but I didn't care much as I was comfortable with my old one. Being a persistent fellow, he would offer me his bike every time we went out riding. I couldn't say no forever, and eventually, we exchanged our bikes one evening. And what I experienced that evening forced me to buy a new bike, which happened to be the Trace St Dual Sports bike.

As a bicycle enthusiast, I never compromise on comfort, performance, and design when it comes to bikes, and this bike had all of those things I needed. You'll see why I loved this bike in an instant after you're done reading this review.

Let's get started.

Frame and handlebars

Trace St Dual Sports bike offers an incredibly smooth on and off the road, thanks to its ergonomically designed lightweight aluminum alloy frame. Also, the use of aluminum alloy construction not only also ensures that the weight is reduced considerably. But it also makes the bike stiff, reliable, and resistant to rust or corrosion.

The handlebars are wide, which provides a natural feel and a comfortable grip. This allows for better control and makes it an excellent choice for people who love going on long bike rides as it provides extra comfort and relieves the stress on the arms.

Gears

The gears are a top feature that I liked the most about the Trace St is its super smooth, high-performance gears. This sports bike comes with a 3x7 speed Shimano drivetrain or 21 gears.

At first, I was pretty unsure of this bike's performance because it had a lot of gears, and I thought it would be troublesome to shift from one fear to another. But to my surprise, the Trace St sports bike performs exceptionally well. It has a Shimano Revo grip shifter that makes gear shifting smooth and effortless.

To shift the gears, all you need to do is twist the barrel up and down using your index finger and thumb.

Another cool thing that I love about the many gearing options of the Diamondback trace is that the availability of different gear sizes makes the bike very versatile. Whether you're from a hilly region or an open area, this bike can meet your requirements. In other words, you can always make your riding experience pleasant by selecting a comfortable gear regardless of the road inclination.

Brakes

The Diamondback Trace St Dual Sports bike has front and rear alloy linear-pull brakes that pack an incredible amount of stopping power.

The only downside about the brakes is that it makes an annoying sound if the brake pads are wet, and you squeeze the brake lever. To do away with the squealing noise, I replaced the brake pads that came with the bike with high-performance brake pads, but it didn't make a lot of difference. As soon as it got wet, the brakes began to make the same annoying sound.

Later on, I realized that the brake pads that came with the bike were almost as good as the expensive ones I bought; all it needed was a bit of cleaning with an oil-free brake degreaser.

Wheels and tires

If you're a bike enthusiast, you'd probably agree with me that fat tires are a lot better when it comes to sports bikes. Fatter tires offer a much better grip, absorb most of the shocks or vibrations, and roll smoothly over any surfaces.

This sports bike comes with a matching front and back 700x40 C tires designed to provide excellent cornering and traction in both dry and wet surfaces.

On the other hand, the wheels are double-walled with 32 spokes, and it can support up to 300 pounds. This is another thing that I loved about this bike. It's not very often that you may see a 300 pounder riding a bike. But the fact that it can hold that much weight proves that the built quality is solid. Also, it wouldn't be a concerning factor for most averaged sized or heavyweight people.

Saddle

The seat is this bike made up of high-density foam, which dampens the vibrations, and it's covered with synthetic leather, which enhances its overall appearance. In short, the saddle looks great, and it's comfortable as well.

However, if you're a big guy, the saddle may be too narrow, and you may have to consider replacing it with a bigger seat for overweight or go with a bike for big guys. But on the brighter side, replacing the seat is pretty straight forward.

Design and Aesthetics

Despite its affordable price range, this Diamondback hybrid bike is built sturdily, and it has an eye-catching design. The only thing that lacks in terms of design and aesthetics is the lack of options when it comes to colors. But it is not a big deal as most men don't care about their bike's color as long as it's not bright pink.

Conclusion

The Diamondback Trace St Dual Sportbike is one of the best in its price range. Everything from the lightweight aluminum alloy frame, multiple gears, high-performance tires, and good design ensures that it is a standout.

Many users, including myself, find that the Diamondback trace st bike's saddle is better suited for female riders. Also, the brakes may require time to time cleaning, which can be quite annoying. And as mentioned, you may have to replace the linear V brakes with disc brakes if you live in a hilly area as it can be pretty dangerous if the braking system is wet. However, these minor issues of the bike can easily be fixed.

Apart from the seat and the squealing brakes, I'd say the Diamondback Trace St Dual Sport bike is a great deal all in all. It has all the essence of a good sportbike. It's comfortable, it performs well, and it looks great. Furthermore, it is affordable, and it won't break your bank.
